The Two Strongest Winds The two strongest winds were Boreas, the north wind, and Notus, the south wind. These two winds are capable of major destruction. - Boreas Boreas was the strongest wind. When he blew he would pull up trees, roots, and just about anything else. Boreas was the son of Eos, and some say he was the son of Aeolus. He was also the brother of Notus, Zephyr, and Eurus. He and all of his brothers had wings. Boreas could help the gods with trickery. He could transform into anything. - Notus Notus is the south wind, some say that he is the southwest wind. Notus blew from the south and he sprinkled the earth in warm water. Notus was the god of mist and fog. He was criticle to shepherds, ships, mountains, and wanderers. Notus was only helpful to people who were trying to commit a crime. The Romans called Notus, Auster. Some believe that Notus had a vase that had water that he sprinkled as he flew. He most likely got this act from his mother, Eos. Boreas and Notus are the two strongest winds and could cause trouble to mortals and gods. Some gods learned how to use theses two trouble makers for themselves. |
